Casino – The Goodfellas Tribute

A casino is a facility where people pay to play games of chance or skill for money. The primary games are the ones that involve betting or wagering, such as roulette, craps, baccarat and blackjack, although some also offer games that require skill, like video poker.

The gaming floor is the heart of a casino and is where most of the action takes place. Slot machines, known as fruit machines in many countries, are a popular way to spend time at a casino. They are easy to use and often have a high jackpot payout. The other major form of gambling in a casino is table games, including traditional casino tables and electronic versions such as video poker and roulette.

While other movies may show only the glitz of Las Vegas, Casino dives deeper, displaying the city’s past ties to organized crime. It also shows how massive gambling corporations grew to dominate the desert oasis, with all its neon and opulence.

Director Martin Scorsese dials Goodfellas up to 11. With a cast of characters mired in violence, treachery and avarice, Casino is riveting from start to finish. Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone are at the top of their game, with both delivering performances that are simply unmatched. Joe Pesci’s portrayal of mobster Nicky Santoro is a real knockout, too.
