Creating Slots in AngularJS

Slot

The word “slot” is a late 14c. word that originally meant the hollow part of the throat, above the breastbone. Its origin is uncertain, but it is possibly related to Old French esclot or the Old Norse word slod. The word’s current meaning dates from the 1520s; it was first used in the context of a slot machine in the 1880s. Here is a list of the most commonly known slots:

The slot is a prime position for a defenseman to take a shot. A defender can take a slap shot that can deflect and end up in the net, or a center or winger can put his stick out in front of the goalie and redirect the puck. A high-quality slap shot from the slot is one of the best shots in hockey, but it requires a goalie to react with lightning speed.

In AngularJS, a component can be reused by passing it to another component or HTML. Using a single “normal” component isn’t enough when you want to enforce a pattern that spans multiple screens or multiple pages. So instead of defining one “normal” component, you can create multiple slots in a single file. You can also use multiple slots for a single pattern. When used properly, each slot has its own unique name.

The next step in building a custom UI for a UI for your application is to map certain words or phrases to slots. The Dialog Engine recognizes multiple words for the same slot, so you can map one word to another. For example, you can map NYC to New York by saying, “New York” to get a mapped-in message. To add more synonyms, click the slot name and press Enter. To remove a slot, click the X icon when hovering over the term.
